Brief overview:

Developed in line with the Trust’s Leadership & Improvement Strategy to support all managers as they develop their skills & knowledge, this half day session forms part of the Management Essentials Programme.

Staff will gain an understanding of the NHS financial framework and learn practical skills to enable successful management of a budget.

Areas covered include:

  • An overview of how the Trust, and the NHS more widely, is funded
  • The budget setting process
  • Interpreting a budget & forecast statement
  • Efficiencies and cost improvement programmes
  • Using eProcurement and Purchase Invoice Manager (PIM)
  • Overview of service development approval process

Target audience:

This course is suitable for individuals moving into their first managerial position or who have been in a managerial role for a while but haven’t undertaken management training or feel in need of a refresher.
