Overview:
Refresh the knowledge necessary for effective treatment and stabilisation of children with life threatening emergencies along with practicing the practical procedures necessary for effective management of childhood emergencies.
Duration:
10 hours online pre-course learning (VLE) & a one day face to face course
Candidate Eligibility:
Medical candidates must be level ST4 or above and be currently practising in acute paediatrics regularly in a relevant role.
Nursing and AHP candidates must have done a minimum of 2 full 2-day APLS courses and be currently practising in acute paediatrics regularly in a relevant role before they can apply to do the APLS recertification course.
All candidates must have completed at least one APLS course before applying for a place on a recertification course and be no more than 6 months out of date.
Candidates must also hold a Paediatric BLS certificate dated with in a year of the course date.
Please note: The recertification course is testing the retention of the APLS content and is not a teaching course for those whose knowledge and skills have lapsed or those who are not practicing regularly in a relevant role.

Recertification of current APLS is through the Advanced Life Support Group (ALSG)
