In the NHS, good ideas only make a difference when they are clearly evidenced, well-structured and aligned to organisational priorities. A strong business case is often the key factor in whether an idea is approved, funded or progressed — yet many staff find the process daunting or unclear.

This practical workshop demystifies business case writing and builds confidence, helping you understand not just what to include, but why it matters to decision-makers.

In this workshop you will:
– Create context for your business case, based on customer needs, benefits, value and impact
– Explore what decision-makers are really looking for when reviewing a business case
– Learn an effective business case framework and what makes a strong, credible case
– Understand how to articulate risk, impact and consequences of non-approval

By the end of the session, you will:
– Be equipped with practical tools and techniques to write an effective business case
– Know what further information and evidence to explore
– Feel more confident and less overwhelmed by the business case process
– Be better prepared to present a clear, structured and persuasive case

What previous delegates have said:
“Simplified the process – it now seems less scary.”
“Helped me build confidence in tools for building a successful business case.”
“Learning everything that needs to be considered before starting a business case was helpful.”
“Selling the impact if the business case isn’t agreed – risk is often pivotal.”

The Business Skills Workshops (BSW) programme is a series of educational modules that has been developed by Pfizer to support individuals and organisations within the NHS to enhance their knowledge and skills related to service improvement.

All the Business Skills Workshops are CPD approved. Pfizer Healthcare Partnership Managers and CECs are the subject matter experts and are trained to facilitate BSW sessions and annual refreshers take place for each workshop and workshop materials are reviewed every 2 years.

As well as being a leading supplier of medicines to the NHS, Pfizer is committed to working with our partners from across the NHS, as well as academia and other healthcare organisations, to improve the delivery of healthcare and achieve the best health outcomes for people in the UK.
