Course overview

This simulation day will provide a hands on experience and practical training which aims to help in career decision making by enhancing aptitude for practical skills and also provide confidence.

Stations included:

Suturing and knot tying

Vascular anastomosis

Laparoscopic skills with Laparoscopic trainer

ENT station: epistaxis, nasoendoscopy and quinsy

Learning Outcomes:

To develop basic surgical skills needed at SHO level

To gain confidence in practical skills

To help in decision making for those unsure about their aptitude

Target Audience

IMGs and Women in F1, F2, SHO placements in the North East seeking guidance and support to either enter surgical training at Core training or higher speciality training level.
