Course overview:
This interactive study day combing lectures and practical workshops is suitable for FY1 – ST8 with an interest in Orthopaedics.
Learning Outcomes:
- Appreciate indications for external fixation in trauma
- Understand biomechanical considerations during application of external fixators
- Increase confidence with insertion of external fixators components understanding safe anatomical corridors and insertion techniques
- Understand the basic biomechanical considerations with IM nailing
- Appreciate importance of surgical set up and entry point in intramedullary nailing
- Develop skills for safe insertion of IM nails
- Develop understanding and application of reduction techniques utilised in IM nailing
