This is a new combined session with both Human Factors and Civility Located at FHN.

Course Overview:

This session on, Civility, Human Factors and Psychological Safety in Healthcare offers essential insights for all staff members to enhance workplace culture and patient safety.

Participants will explore the concept of Psychological Safety, understanding its critical role in creating an open environment where individuals feel valued and empowered to voice concerns without fear of retribution.

The importance of Civility will be emphasised and highlighting how respectful interactions contribute to effective teamwork and improved patient Safety.

Additionally, the session will delve into Human Factors; examining how system’s thinking can reduce errors in healthcare settings and understand our role within the system.

Through interactive discussions and real-world examples, staff will learn practical strategies to cultivate a culture of safety and respect, ultimately ensuring a more positive workplace atmosphere and enhanced care for patients. Join us to empower your team with the knowledge and tools to prioritise Psychological Safety, Civility, and Human Factors in everyday practice.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explore what is phycological safety
  • Explore the evidence base supporting the benefits of civility.
  • To acknowledge the level of incivility within the trust.
  • Discuss how create a more civil workplace and what tools we can utilise.
  • Enhance basic understanding of Human Factors
  • Discuss ‘non-technical skills’

Please be advised that this session has a minimum attendee requirement therefore if this isn’t met we may cancel the session. If this session is cancelled, we will aim to advise attendees as far in advance as possible and apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Late Arrivals:

If attendees arrive more than 20 minutes late for the session time, they may be refused entry. In this instance, by assessing the impact of missed learning and the impact on other attendees, a decision would be made by the session facilitator to either allow the attendee entry to the session or ask them to re-book.
