Brief overview:

Simulation training is a mandatory part of the internal medicine training curriculum for doctors. The following sessions are planned:

Advanced communication skills for senior medical decision makers

This course aims at providing experience to senior decision makers of challenging communication scenarios. The focus is on learning with a detailed debrief following each scenario in which the experience is discussed, non-judgemental feedback is provided and a development plan is agreed so that learning can be applied to clinical practice. It consists of a half day consisting of four scenarios and is designed to imitate, as closely as possible, some of the common challenges faced by senior medical doctors including breaking bad news, dealing with complaints, duty of candour after medical error, conflict management and communicating uncertainty and risk.

This event is for general medicine registrars (acute, respiratory, diabetes, ID, gastroenterology, cardiology, rheumatology, neurology, renal, haematology, oncology, OPM, dermatology):

Certification

All attendees will receive a certificate for attendance upon completion of the feedback survey sent out after the session.
