Course Overview: For managers to understand the impact of fatigue in the work place and understand how to use and utilise the appropriate tools and risk assessment.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand what fatigue is and why fatigue is important in healthcare.
  • Recognise the real-life impact of fatigue (case studies).
  • Understand the causes of fatigue – sleep and body clock.
  • How shift work can impact fatigue.
  • Be able to utilise practical tips for managing fatigue in staff.
  • Understand fatigue tools available and how to use them.
  • Gain an understanding of how to and who to escalate to.

Late arrivals:

If attendees arrive more than 20 minutes late of the session time, they may be refused entry. In this instance, by assessing the impact of missed learning and the impact on other attendees, a decision would be made by the session facilitator to either allow the attendee entry to the session or ask them to rebook.
