Course overview: This course is designed to equip you with the skills to confidently plan, prepare for, and conduct meetings that are both engaging and effective. You will learn to: manage meeting dynamics, record clear and concise notes, produce accurate minutes and track action items to completion. 

Learning Objectives

•Understand the key elements that make a meeting successful and the purpose of keeping a meeting record.

•Develop a standard format for creating and using an effective agenda to prepare for and structure a meeting.

•Apply active listening skills to identify and capture the most important information during discussions.

•Select and use a variety of note-taking techniques to record clear and concise notes in any meeting format (in-person, virtual, or hybrid).

•Identify ways to manage group dynamics and navigate conversations that may go off-track.

•Draft, refine, and present clear and accurate minutes to a standard format.

•Successfully allocate tasks and actions, ensuring all follow-up items are managed effectively.

•Bring a meeting to a close and review and distribute notes to all attendees.

Please be advised that this session has a minimum attendee requirement therefore if this isn’t met we may cancel the session. If this session is cancelled, we will aim to advise attendees as far in advance as possible and apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Late arrivals:

If attendees arrive more than 20 minutes late of the session time, they may be refused entry. In this instance, by assessing the impact of missed learning and the impact on other attendees, a decision would be made by the session facilitator to either allow the attendee entry to the session or ask them to rebook.
