Course Overview:
This interactive session offers staff across the University Tees Hospital an opportunity to explore what psychological safety means, and what it doesn’t. Through real-world examples and open discussion, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how psychological safety impacts individuals, teams, and ultimately patient care.
The course highlights the critical role psychological safety plays in creating high performing teams, supporting confident decision-making, learning from failure and enhancing patient safety. Staff will gain practical strategies to help build and maintain psychologically safe environments in their own teams.
Learning Objectives:
- Enhance basic understanding of Human Factors.
- Discuss ‘non-technical skills’.
- Discuss the application of Safety 1 and 2 and understand Gap Theory.
- Apply the principles of Human Factors to Patient Safety.
Target Audience:
UHT NHS trust staff. (North Tees and South Tees.)
If you are a non-medical registrant who is eligible for Continual Professional Development (CPD) funding this course will account as part of your annual allowance for CPD funding.

Late Arrivals:
If attendees arrive more than 20 minutes late of the session time, they may be refused entry. In this instance, by assessing the impact of missed learning and the impact on other attendees, a decision would be made by the session facilitator to either allow the attendee entry to the session or ask them to rebook.
