Course Overview
This event is to provide training for safe and efficient ways of using different staples for bowel anastomosis.
Learning outcomes:
- Identify the key components and assembling of surgical staplers (linear and circular, mechanised and non-mechanised)
- List the indications, contraindications and types of stapled bowel anastomoses.
- Perform a safe and functional end-to-end anastomosis, side-to-side anastomosis using a vast array of circular, linear staplers along with intracorporeal vs extracorporeal anastomosis.
- Identify the various issues with staplers, including misfiring, troubleshooting, selecting type, size of stapler for various scenarios.
Target audience:
The target candidates are CT1/CT2, ST3 trainees and above.
