Course overview:

An interactive training course on the management of surgical postpartum haemorrhage.

The course includes interactive powerpoint teaching and videos on tamponade balloons, uterine artery ligation and caesarean hysterectomy, followed by a practical session. Candidates will have the opportunity to place tamponade balloons using the SimMom simulation mannequin, and individual models to reproduce lower segment sutures, B-Lynch sutures and uterine artery ligation.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of the session candidates will have covered stepwise management of major haemorrhage in obstetrics and will have had chance to practice surgical techniques in a learning environment.

Each candidate will receive an OSAT for simulation of uterine tamponade balloon insertion, and a certificate of attendance.

Target Audience:

Senior Specialty Trainees in O&G or any resident Doctor on the Senior Reg rota in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
