A one day course to give those responsible for initiating resuscitation at birth the background knowledge and skills to approach the management of a newborn infant during the first 10-20 minutes.

The Newborn Life Support (NLS) course has been developed under the auspices of the Resuscitation Council (UK) to provide clear practical instruction in airway support and the theoretical background to illustrate its importance in resuscitation of the newborn. It is designed for any healthcare professional, regardless of discipline or status, who may be called upon to resuscitate a newborn baby.

The course concentrates on the importance of temperature control, practical airway management and ventilatory support and topics covered on the course include: History & Physiology; Resuscitation at Birth; Special Cases; Airway Management; Vascular Access; Equipment Familiarisation; and Chest Compressions.
